Our Story...

A little bit about me

Maison Nola was started in 2014 by textile designer and New Orleans native Stephanie Hemel, with a desire to bring something new to her home city.

About Stephanie

Stephanie has been working in textiles since 2000, she studied fine art at Loyola University, where she received her BFA. She went on to the San Francisco Art Institute and received her MFA in 2000. It was there in the Bay Area that she interned for Pottery Barn. It was at Pottery Barn that Stephanie learned how to design textiles and bedding. She went off for a couple of years to design bedding for Nautica, but eventually ended up back at Pottery Barn. Stephanie became Head Design Manager for Pottery Barn Kids for 5 years, working in all phases of bedding and product design. She frequently traveled to New York, London, and Paris, in search of the most magical design inspiration. She traveled to review samples with vendors, and maintained final approval of all design details on finished bedding pieces. Ready for new adventures, she returned home and married high school sweetheart Travis Acosta. In January of 2016 she welcomed her twins...Claiborne and Delilah! and the real fun began ;-)

I wanted to start a baby design company here, simply because the city was ready for it…and needed it. The people of New Orleans love to celebrate their city and adore many things they hold dear from their childhoods…like Storyland in City Park. The city is so rich with ideas and inspiration.
